MARISÉ ÁLVAREZ
Marisé was recently seen in the recurring role of Nyche opposite Ewan McGregor in the highly acclaimed Disney+ Star Wars series OBI-WAN KENOBI, which takes place ten years after Revenge Of The Sith and nine years before A New Hope, in an era after the Jedi Order, has been wiped out. She played the lead role in Jonás Cuarón’s Showtime pilot HOMBRE, opposite Gael Garcia Bernal. The show centers around a Mexican-American family man living undocumented in the United States. When his wife, played by Marisé, is detained by ICE, he assumes the identity of an immigration officer to rescue her.
Marisé's journey in the acting industry has taken her across borders. After studying drama at the University of Puerto Rico, she further honed her craft by completing a Master’s degree in Applied Theater from the University of Manchester in the UK. Upon returning to Puerto Rico, she co-created the live theater group Teatro Breve, Puerto Rico’s most influential Comedy Theater Company in the last decade, showcasing her versatility and adaptability in different cultural contexts.
Marisé's journey in the acting industry began with a notable role in the award-winning Puerto Rican feature film MALDEAMORES, produced by Benicio del Toro. In this film, she portrayed the character 'Neyshalí ', a role that marked the beginning of her successful career. This was followed by her portrayal of Cuban revolutionary Vilma Espín in Steven Soderbergh’s CHE: Part One and CHE: Part Two, and her role as ‘Elisa’ in the award-winning UK short film, LOVER, further solidifying her position in the industry.
Other recent appearances include ‘Mariela,’ in THE VESSEL of Executive Producer Martin Sheen, ‘Angela’ in Paul Kampf’s feature film IMPRISONED, and ‘Tanya Ibar’ in Spain's Mini-Series, EN EL CORREDOR DE LA MUERTE, Produced by Moviestar and co-starring with Miguel Ángel Silvestre.
